Quarantine reports are not being delivered
OS: Windows; IceWarp Server Version: 11/10
AntiSpam
Introduction
If you run into an issue where Quarantine reports are not being delivered, use the screenshots below to make sure you have the correct options enabled.
Solution
- Make sure the Quarantine module is set to Active
AntiSpam > Quarantine > Quarantine tab
- Make sure the Quarantine service is enabled for the particular user, under the Policies tab
Domains & Accounts > Management > <your domain> > <the user> > Policies tab
- Make sure that Enable quarantine reports box is ticked, and that the Sender and From fields are properly filled out, otherwise the emails come from a blank address. Also change the Log Level should not be set to None.
AntiSpam > Action > Reports tab
- After all these things are setup properly, check through your quarantine list and see if you see emails coming from an address like <>@127.0.0.1 with a subject of "Quarantine Report". If you do see them in your quarantine, then allow them to be delivered. Once this happens you should see the reports come through, and any future reports should work after this correction.
There is also a way to check if the reports are running correctly. Follow these steps:
- open a web browser to this location:
http://mail.domain.com/reports/challengelist.html - You should see a script run and it will tell you a report about what accounts were updated and if there are any errors to report. At the very end you should see OK. If you see errors or do not receive quarantine reports to the accounts that have mail in the quarantine list, then contact support with a link to view the challengelist.html and we will see what else can be checked.

What Happens When the TRIAL Installation Expires?
Expiration of the TRIAL installation
The trial version of IceWarp has no limitations in its features.
After 30 days IceWarp will continue to work normally, WebClient will cease to function, and no further configuration changes can be made in the Administration.
After another 30 days (60 days from installation) IceWarp services will be stopped.
You can see license and pricing options here.
How to Set IceWarp to Fulfill the License Requirements (e.g. lice...
You may get an error from Icewarp indicating that the number of users for your license has been exceeded.
This can occur with add-ons you have purchased which have their own specific licenses for a restricted number of users.
In the Licenses dialog, a special flag is shown by the add-on product for which you have set more users than the license allows.
The number in the Accounts column will show how many users you have this engine licensed for. If you have more users set to use the engine than you are licensed for the number of extra users will be shown in the exceed column.
If your Access mode is not set to All Accounts then you can double-click a Product to see which accounts are set to use that Product.
You can decrease the number of users using a service via the Options tab of a Domain or a User.
The following screenshot shows the Services Access box for a domain. It shows that all users in this domain are using the Anti-spam, Anti-virus, Instant Messaging, and GroupWare Products.
If the checkboxes are grayed out and you can't check/uncheck them, you need to change access on global level.
Alternatively, you can upgrade your license to take your extra Users into account.
You can easily modify a range of Accounts by creating a Group Account containing the accounts you wish to modify and changing the setting for the Group.
You can also use the TOOL command to make multiple changes.
for example TOOL modify account *@* U_IM 0
would disable Instant messaging for all accounts
See the Administration Manual for further details
Where Can I Find the Reference Key?
The Reference ID (or Key in older versions) is generated by IceWarp Server and is unique for the machine you install IceWarp on. You may need to find this key if you migrate IceWarp to a new server or if you need to retrieve your License.
On IceWarp Windows Installation
You can find your unique Reference ID in the IceWarp Configuration Console when you click Help > Licenses.
The Reference ID is the number you are looking for.
Another option is to check web administration console (webadmin). Enter your administration URL into browser http://<domain:port>/admin and log in with an account that has administrator rights.
In the tree on left side, click License. The Reference ID is the number you are looking for.
On IceWarp Linux Installation
You essentially have the same options as an administrator on Windows, but you can also use the Wizard to get the Reference ID.
You can find your unique Reference ID in the IceWarp Remote config when you click Help > License (see screenshot from console above).
You can also use web administration. Enter your administration URL into browser http://<domain:port>/admin/ and log in with an account that has administrator rights. In the tree on left side click on license, the Reference ID is the number you are looking for.
Navigate to IceWarp installation folder (by default /opt/icewarp/) and run ./wizard.sh, press Enter and select Licence operations by pressing the number next to it. In License Operations select Display reference key.
How Can I Backup/Restore My License/Settings in Case of a Disk/Se...
License and Settings Backup
After you have purchased and entered the Live license Key to your Icewarp Mail Server and after you have configured your server in the way you want to use it, you should use our Backup Settings feature. You can find it in the File menu.
This will backup all the information you set up, including:
- Icewarp\Config folder (complete Icewarp server configuration and license information)
- Icewarp\Webmail\Config folder (complete Webmail configuration)
- Icewarp\Calendar folder (complete GroupWare configuration including all the entries such as Events, Tasks, etc.)
- Icewarp\Spam folder (complete Instant AntiSpam settings including the Spam Reference Base)
- Icewarp \Mail folder (all your emails, and savings untill the date of the backup)
This can be done also from the Main Menu > System tab > Tools > System Backup
Alternative, you can backup your emails by going to the Main Menu > Mail tab > Archive
For backing up your License information, we recommend using the Export License feature, from Help Menu . This will save your license information in a .XML file.
You may, at this point, on your new machine, update the current license, by navigating to our website.
Install Icewarp on your new or fixed server and use the Restore Settings option in the File menu.
Browse for the zip/rar file you have located on your filesystem (by default : C:\Program Files (x86)\IceWarp\backup), and all your settings will be restored.

Why there is an attachment called winmail.dat included in the received mail?
Applicable only with Outlook 2007 and older versions
This is a feature of older versions of Outlook and Outlook Express. The winmail.dat file contains data to preserve message formatting. It applies only if e-mail is sent in RTF format (Outlook Rich Text format)

How can I setup the JAJC IM client to work with the IceWarp IM Se...
OS: Windows; IceWarp Server Version: 11/10
Configuring JAJC Jabber client
Once you download the JAJC Jabber client, you'll need to configure your client to connect to your Icewarp Mail Server. Here's how:
- Install the client
- Open the JAJC client. When the JAJC client runs for the first time it will load a wizard.
- If you already have an email account on a Icewarp server then you will choose 'Yes' for the existing account question.
Enter the following information in the 'Account Wizard' window: (leave the next screen as it is shown with 'Direct Connection' selected and all other fields blank.)- Server: mail.domain.com (for the initial setup, the wizard must have the actual address of the Icewarp server)
- Name: Joe (enter your screen name)
- Password: enter your password
- Click on Next
- Click Next
At this time, the wizard should successfully connect you to the server.
At this time it will look as though the IM client is connected and working, but there is a flaw with the setup.
If you look at the image below you will see that the account is listed as joe@mail.Icewarpmailserver.com.
The problem is that joe is not joe@mail.Icewarpmailserver.com but joe@Icewarpmailserver.com without the mail sub domain.
To resolve this:- Click the bulb icon
- Choose Tools
- Choose Accounts
- Click Setup
The Account settings will open and these changes should be made:- Account Default is fine, if you want more than one username to use this IM client then you will need to create additional profiles.
- Username: joe (Use the username you use to connect to Icewarp Mail Server)
- Password: enter your password
- Server: domain.com (This must be the email domain as listed in Icewarp Mail Server and should be changed from 'mail.domain.com' that was used in the wizard)
- Create New Account: As long as you already have an email account in Icewarp this should not be checked.
- Resource: Default (You can type whatever you want here, for instance, work/office/home as multiple resources can be connected to the server under one account)
- DO NOT click OK Choose the Connection tab at the top of the window.
In the Connection window:- Check: Connect by IP/Hostname (This will allow the IM client to know where to find your Icewarp Mail Server while allowing the user to properly authenticate to the correct 'domain'.
- Server IP: Use either the IP address or the servers proper DNS Hostname (mail.domain.com)
- Check: Use SSL (This will automatically change the port number to 5223)
- Click OK
Once finished the IM client should provide a popup for the SSL Certificate.
Select Add this host and Continue
You will know that you are properly connected when the Icewarp server will prompt the IM client for the vCard info. You can fill this out now or later.
At this point your JAJC client should be properly connected to the Icewarp Instant Messaging Service and you can now add users and communicate.
How do I reject messages which were sent with an empty Mail From ...
This filter is not recommended because most notification messages and some messages from mailing lists are sent with an empty Mail From.
To reject such messages you have to create a Content Filter which will match these messages.
Go to the Mail Service > Rules > Content Filters tab > Add button. Choose the Where Sender Matches some words condition and Reject/Accept/Delete message action.
Click on some word link and choose Matches (RegEx) in the Function pull-down menu. Now fill ^$ in the String text field (explanation - ^ denotes the start of the string and $ denotes the end so here you are looking for a string with nothing between the start and the finish, an empty string).
Confirm it by clicking OK. Reject action is chosen by default so you do not have to change that. Don't forget to give a titile to the Content Filter if not done already. Finish it by clicking OK again and the filter will be set properly.
Tip: You can set the action to copy to email address so you can audit the rejected messages.
